Wisdom from Walter

I have always liked Walter Williams. Although I have not always agreed with him on every point, I find him to be a wise, brave, and extremely intelligent man. It’s a damn shame that Blacks do not choose to follow the likes of Dr. Williams. Then again, that’s kind of like the pot calling the kettle black; just look at some of the folks white people follow nowadays.

Anyway, his words on democracy in this article are wise, well spoken and we deny them at our peril.

The Ethiopian

In Acts 8:25-40 we are presented with the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. As a boy in Southern Baptist Sunday School, I was taught that this particular story was of great significance because it illustrated the first black man saved and the spread of the gospel to the African Continent. Church tradition (which is usually ignored by Southern Baptists) states that this Ethiopian was the bearer of the Gospel of Christ to the North of Africa. Even if tradition is accurate, and it may well be, it seems that too much attention to it confuses and obfuscates the particular meaning that the conversion of the eunuch bears in the tale of the Gospel’s spread in Acts.
